Celebrating the Growing Spirit of Philanthropy in Montgomery County

Several hundred friends came out on October 27th for our 2015 Montgomery County Celebration of Giving!  This was the first time we introduced the MoCo network to our new President of The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, Bruce McNamer, and re-introduced our new Executive Director of The Community Foundation in Montgomery County, Anna Hargrave.

We proudly shared…

  • • Last year, our 700+ family and corporate donors gave $82 million the causes they care about – which included $7 million to nonprofits serving Montgomery County.
  • • Thanks to many donors and friends, we gave over $700,000 through Sharing Montgomery, our donor-led grant process which supports 50+ high-impact nonprofits serving our low-income neighbors in the county. Read more about the life-changing work of these organizations in Bethesda Magazine’s Holiday Guide to Giving.

The highlight of the evening was the salute to Anna Parisi-Trone and Robert Trone, our 2015 Montgomery County Philanthropists of the Year.  Robert and Anna treat charitable giving as an integral part of their everyday lives, all while working and raising their school-age daughter.  Believing that it is vital to give back to the community where you live and work, they invest in several exceptional nonprofits including Catholic Charities, Imagination Stage, Mercy Health Clinic, Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, and The Washington School of Ballet.

Most importantly, Anna and Robert serve as champions for their favorite causes.  Their tremendous enthusiasm draws in friends and colleagues, exposing them to the needs that exist throughout our community.   By talking openly about how their lives are enriched through giving, they inspire others to get involved.

By naming them our 2015 Montgomery County Philanthropists of the Year, The Community Foundation salutes Anna and Robert for touching the lives of so many, both through their generosity and by inspiring others to “give where we live.”
