RELEASE OF RESEARCH REPORT DEFINING PREDICTORS OF AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT DISCONNECTION FROM SCHOOL AND WORK
Please join us as we unveil the results of our groundbreaking study, produced in partnership with Montgomery College – Connecting Youth to Opportunity: How African American Youth Perspectives Can Inform a Blueprint for Improving Opportunity in Montgomery County. You will learn about the contributing factors to disconnection from school and the labor force and the actions schools, County officials, non-profits, philanthropy, corporations and caretakers can take to reconnect the over 8,000 youth in the county who are “disconnected” and to prevent more students from falling off the pathway to success. Confirmed speakers include Patricia O’Neill (President, MCPS Board of Education), Dr. Larry A. Bowers (Interim Superintendent, Montgomery County Public Schools) and Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard (President, Montgomery College).
