Thanks to all those who participated in our Sharing Prince George’s County site visits!
Thanks to everyone who was able to join us in April for the Sharing Prince George’s County site visits. From Accokeek to Adelphi, we traveled throughout the County introducing the community to 14 nonprofits that manage education, safety-net and workforce services. We came away with a clear understanding of the needs facing children in foster care, low-income seniors, the underemployed and much more. This initiative will continue to catalyze local philanthropy by showing donors, businesses, government officials and grassroots activists that they can work together to support effective nonprofits.
As they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words” so please check out some of the awesome moments we shared during the past month at our site visits.
Through programs proven effective, local nonprofits are helping to pave a stronger path to economic security for Prince Georgians. The Sharing Prince George’s County initiative has raised over $800,000 this year for these groups and your additional support will help to strengthen them even more.
You can help support Sharing Prince George’s County in any amount and at any time online here or by check. If you already have a fund at the Community Foundation you can recommend a grant directly to Sharing Prince George’s County as well.
Or, take advantage of a new state tax credit called “Endow Maryland” — which rewards donors who help build permanent charitable funds in Maryland — by supporting the Sharing Prince George’s County Endowment Fund online here or by check. Your donation to the endowment fund will help build charitable resources to meet Maryland’s changing needs over time.
Whichever way you choose to support, you will become part of a community of givers building a viable support system that will connect transitioning youth to permanent shelter, seniors to affordable and healthy foods, and countless other Prince Georgians living on the edge to resources they need.
