We are your partner in helping you achieve your philanthropic goals and maximize tax advantages:

The Community Foundation is so grateful to you and all of our generous donors. Throughout the year, you’ve continued to demonstrate a strong philanthropic spirit by maintaining and establishing new funds, and recommending thousands of grants to local and national nonprofit organizations.

As your partner, our staff can help you and your advisors determine the most tax-effective way to make gifts to your fund before December 31. We are here to help you maximize the tax benefit from making gifts of cash, appreciated stock or real estate, and other complex assets. And, if you are 70½ years or older, you can donate up to $100,000 from your individual retirement accounts (IRAs) directly to The Community Foundation, subject to some stipulations that we can explain.

As you know, The Community Foundation is an expert in our region, its issues, and effective local nonprofit organizations. Our staff are available to help you decide how to direct your grants during this season of giving and thanks. We can also help you share your philanthropic values with your family and future generations through our philanthropic advisory services and legacy planning resources. Please contact the Development and Philanthropic Engagement Team at 202-955-5890 for guidance.
