The Community Foundation is home to nearly 700 donor-advised and field-of-interest funds formed by individuals, families and corporations from across the metropolitan Washington, DC region, each with distinct funding priorities. While the majority of these funds do not accept proposals or applications, a handful of funds do offer competitive funding opportunities; please see Competitive Grant Opportunities for more information.

The Community Foundation’s Community Leadership priorities are improving the economic outcomes for youth and low-income families in the region through strengthening education and workforce development opportunities.

The Community Foundation leads several funding collaboratives and strategic initiatives to increase the capacity of the local nonprofit sector to address these priorities. Additionally, The Community Foundation has committed its discretionary Community Leadership Fund assets, composed of generous contributions from our donors, to these initiatives. For more information about our strategic initatives please see What We Do. To learn more about any open funding opportunities available as a part of these collaboratives and strategic initiatives, please see our Grant and Scholarship Opportunities.
