Last year, Sharing DC awarded grants to six organizations. These agencies provide a broad range of services to children and their families. Funding helped support permanent housing, job training, supportive and other services. Our grantees are:
- Building Bridges Across the River
To provide counseling services through The Risa Wellness Project to any child or youth member of THEARC who needs mental health services.
- Family Matters of Greater Washington
To provide individual, family, and psycho-education groups to inner city middle and high-school students, and education to school staff for dealing with trauma in the form of school bullying.
- Mary’s Center
To provide children who are at high risk of academic failure, behavioral and emotional issues, truancy, and trauma-related symptoms such as anxiety and depression, with access to behavioral health services in school.
- Safe Shores DC
To support Safe Shores’ Clinical Services Program which provides specialized, trauma-focused mental health services to youth and families who have been affected by abuse, violence and trauma in the District of Columbia.
- Turnaround for Children DC
To support Turnaround’s work to produce environments that accelerate healthy student development and academic achievement.
- Wendt Center for Loss and Healing
To expand the provision of evidence-based mental health services to reach youth who are suffering the adverse consequence of trauma exposure, particularly within low-income communities throughout the District of Columbia.
