The Community Foundation in Montgomery County works closely with individuals, families, and businesses to match donor intent with community opportunity to create deeper local impact.

Here’s how:

Community Leadership
We provide an important community leadership role in Montgomery County as a bridge between those who want to give, local government and business, and local nonprofit organizations.

The Foundation’s efforts to help residents attain economic security is achieved through its community leadership work that focuses primarily on three issue areas.

Each area is designed to achieve a critical community goal:

Safety Net
Strengthen and preserve the safety net to meet basic human needs (i.e., food and shelter)

Prepare youth to graduate high school ready for college and careers

Grad-Cap-IconWorkforce Development
Help workers gain and acquire the skills and credentials needed to thrive in the region’s economy

Our staff organizes and directs Sharing Montgomery, a strategic, donor-led funding effort to encourage more residents and businesses to “give where they live.” Since its inception, Sharing Montgomery has awarded over $3 million in grants to some of the best community-based nonprofit organizations serving Montgomery County’s residents.

With staff facilitating a rigorous annual vetting and site visit process, Sharing Montgomery’s donor-led grants committees evaluate each applicant’s program, management and leadership to make sure it is the best possible investment.
