At The Community Foundation in Montgomery County our efforts to assist residents attain economic security is achieved through our community leadership that focuses primarily on three core issue areas:
- Safety-Net: Strengthen and preserve the safety net to meet basic human needs (i.e., food and shelter)
- Education: Prepare youth to graduate high school ready for college and careers
- Workforce Development: Help workers gain and acquire the skills and credentials needed to thrive in the region’s economy
Our community Leadership work in these issue areas is directed through Sharing Montgomery, a strategic, donor-led funding that supports 50+ local organizations serving low-income Montgomery County residents. Since its inception, Sharing Montgomery has awarded over $3 million in grants to some of the best community-based nonprofit organizations providing critical needs to those most in need.
With staff facilitating a rigorous annual vetting and site visit process, Sharing Montgomery’s donor-led grants committees evaluate each applicant’s program, management and leadership to make sure it is the best possible investment.
