Sharing Community Funds Site Visits

Site Visits offer you an opportunity to learn about the incredible work of our local nonprofit partners. During a site visit, you may meet the staff leading these amazing organizations and witness their transformative work in action. Our various Sharing programs conduct site visits at different points throughout the year - with most happening in the winter/spring and fall. Stay tuned for more updates and details!

    Explore efforts to empower children and youth with positive mentors (Crittenton Services of Greater Washington) as well as experiences which use the arts to boost mental health and wellbeing (Story Tapestries and Create Arts Center).     Sharing Montgomery Site Visit: Housing and Support for Vulnerable Youth – February 17 at 11:00 a.m. (Virtual Visit)

    Tour Montgomery County’s Youth Drop-In center which focuses on vulnerable youth, including those who are disconnected from school and/or experiencing homelessness.  You will get to learn how Pathways to Housing provides a lifeline to ensure youth can access safe, stable housing and other vital supports.     Explore nonprofits that help children and families meet their basic needs (UpCounty Hub), empower students to pursue higher education (College Tracks) and advocate to ensure all children have what they need to thrive (Black & Brown Coalition for Educational Equity and Excellence).     Sharing Montgomery Site Visit: Fostering Physical and Mental Health– February 19 at 12:00 p.m. (Virtual Visit)

    Learn about organizations that specialize in providing comprehensive, culturally-competent healthcare (Mary's Center), mobilizing volunteers to improve access to mental health (National Alliance on Mental Illness – MC), and providing support to seniors to ensure they can age in place (Home Care Partners).     Sharing Montgomery Site Visit: Bridging Safety-Net and Economic Empowerment– February 21 at 9:00 a.m.

    Join us to learn how Crossway Community helps low-income residents meet their basic needs and gain skills needed to shift from crisis to stability. In addition to observing its monthly food distribution, guests will learn about its aspirations to create a center to support entrepreneurs and improve access to early care and education.     Hear from local organizations that leverage farms to provide meaningful jobs to people with disabilities (Red Wiggler Care Farm), improve access to culturally specific foods for our immigrant neighbors (AfriThrive), and help people improve their health (Community Farmshare). The Wellness Portfolio: Protecting Your Greatest Asset: Thursday, April 9th, from 1–2pm (virtual)

Join us as we host Jill Sheppard Davenport, Director of Health & Wellness at Pennington Partners & Co., for a forward-thinking discussion on building your "wellness portfolio."

    Sharing Montgomery Site Visit: Supporting Families to Pursue Economic Mobility– March 12 at 11:30 a.m.

    Join us for a special visit at Jackson Road, our Montgomery County partner school for the Brilliant Futures children’s saving program. You will get to connect directly with school staff and nonprofit partners that help the children and their families: Parent Encouragement Program (PEP) and the Latino Economic Development Center. Afterwards, we will have lunch at the new East County Education Center to learn about new skill-building and economic empowerment programs led by Montgomery College and IMPACT Silver Spring.
