Come join us for our annual "open meeting" as we explore how all of us—donors, foundations and companies—are thinking through our philanthropic strategies in 2019 and beyond. Together, we’ll discuss:
How can philanthropy empower our nonprofits to deepen their impact? i.e. how to help our favorite do-gooders to do more!
Given the recent leadership changes in Montgomery County, what unique opportunities do we have to partner with government in this moment?
To jumpstart our conversation, we will call on two leaders to share insights from their own giving journeys: Bruce Levenson will tell the story behind the Do Good Institute at the University of Maryland and its work to catalyze the next generation of philanthropic and nonprofit leaders. Tamara Copeland will reflect on the evolution of our region’s nonprofit sector during her tenure as WRAG’s President and share recommendations for where philanthropy can focus its efforts to make a deeper impact in the coming years.
These quarterly free lunch events provide representatives of local companies and foundations with an opportunity to get acquainted, learn more about Montgomery County funding priorities, and share best practices. The events are open to grantmakers only, and each time we have anywhere from 15 to 30 attendees. There is a different topic for each luncheon – education, health care, etc. -- selected in advance by the group.
